Thomas Jefferson High School
for Science & Technology
Alumni Association
Techstravaganza
Attention women alumni working
in science and technology: volunteers needed!
Event: Annual
Techstravaganza at TJHSST, Saturday April 1, 1-4 p.m.
This event is organized by
three all-girls clubs from TJ to promote science and technology fields and
careers among middle school girls. This fun filled afternoon is focused on
hands-on experience.
Various tables and demo
stations are set up in the main gym. At each table, there is an
activity/learning experience/opportunity to talk with TJ students and women
working in various fields related to science and technology. Middle school
girls (grade 5 -7) attend and can talk to TJ students and women about what
type of work they do, their education, etc. Girls will be asked to conduct
multiple short interviews and hands-on experiments and will get small prize
as they complete a path through the gym.
Women alumni are encouraged
to attend the event to be part of the Women in Technology/Girls in
Technology (WIT/GIT) booth. Feel free to bring any visual aids or
demonstration tools that will help describe how you use science and
technology in your work.
We are also looking for any
number of small items that your company could donate to be used as prizes
(pens with corporate logo, key chains, puzzles, anything!).
If your company could
sponsor any larger items (like digital camera, CD player, etc.) for the
raffle, your company logo would be prominently displayed at the WIT/GIT
table and your company would be publicly thanked.
