Alumni AssociationTJ Launches Virtual School for Middle East
TJHSST started the Virtual School in Islamabad two months after 9/11. This has now grown to include seven schools in the Near East South Asia (NESA) area. The school was originally built, established, managed and run by students and staff from TJHSST, using Blackboard.com software. After intensive training for administrators and teachers at NESA schools, the program was handed over to Blackboard, with our staff and students remaining as consultants. As evacuations have become necessary, the virtual school is able to pick up in full swing right away. NESA is part of the American State Department-sponsored overseas schools. A second
virtual school is planned for Far East, followed by African schools. Peter Morasca, Network Coordinator, has visited all these areas, the latest in March to Gaborne, Botswana, Southern Africa to discuss virtual school setups.
