5th Annual TJHSST Alumni Career Education Day - Call for Volunteers
The Career Education Fair provides a unique opportunity for alumni to connect with students one-on-one in a booth-style format, and to interact with students about the path you took towards landing your current job or industry field (e.g. major, college, daily work life, TJ background, influences, etc.) This is not a job fair to hire students, it is an opportunity for students to ask you candid questions about your job and career path. more...

TJ 25th Anniversary Celebration
Friends of TJHSST: This year we are celebrating TJHSST's 25th anniversary as a distinct Governor's magnet school. The event postponed from December 16 has been rescheduled to May 24 from 5-7pm in the TJHSST auditorium and gymnasium, followed by an informal reception at the school to catch up with old friends. Our keynote speaker is the Honorable Charles Robb, U.S. Senate, who was the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia when TJHSST became a science and technology Governor's School. A number of other dignitaries from the school's past will also be in attendance. We will have a variety of performances, videos, and speakers involving leaders, teachers, and students from past and present. This time around, we will not require an RSVP or tickets for seating. Instead, we have changed the format to allow live performances in both the gymnasium and auditorium given the large number of RSVPs we had in December. Seating will be first come, first serve. Please begin arriving on campus as early as 4:15 because parking space is limited and street parking may be necessary for those arriving close to 5pm. I hope to see you there! Sincerely, Evan Glazer, Principal more...

Katie Bailey '11 Sponsoring American Cancer Society Event
My name is Katie Bailey and I am currently a senior at Thomas Jefferson. I am in charge of an event called Relay for Life, an overnight event designed to spread cancer awareness, celebrate the lives of survivors, remember those who lost their lives to cancer, and unite a community in the fight against cancer. We raise money for the American Cancer Society and last year we had about 800 participants and raised over $80,000! Our event is quickly approaching (May 21, 2011), but we are trying to outreach as much as possible to the greater Alexandria community and also to the TJ community. If you are interested in creating a TJ Alumni Relay for Life team or participating in any way, that would be great! Our event website is www.alexandriayouthrelay.org. Please let me know if you have any questions and I look forward to hearing from you! Thanks, Katie Bailey Event Chair more...
